2021 SSCA St. Augustine GAM COVID-19 Response Plan
Due to the ongoing effects of Covid-19 and the rise of the highly transmissible Delta Variant, we have created this protocol to protect the safety and well-being of our GAM participants, sponsors, and speakers.
Like other events occurring in many states, we are aligning our recommendations with current CDC and other health officials trying to be as cautious as reasonable so that members and their guests are comfortable while attending this Annual Meeting and conference. Please note that this plan is fluid and may be adjusted as the situation in Florida and CDC guidelines change.
Overall Safety: We will encourage seating and gathering with known friends and family. Seating for presentations and meals will be as distanced as possible.
Masking: All participants - regardless of vaccination status - are recommended to wear a mask while indoors (except when eating). Masks are required for those not vaccinated.
Vaccination Status: We ask that all attendees attest to being fully vaccinated.
You should indicate this by checking the ‘fully vaccinated’ box on the event registration page during the registration process. If you are not fully vaccinated, we ask that you provide proof of a negative PCR test within 3 days of attending the event. This should be provided to the registration staff when you check in. In the event you do not have a recent PCR test, inexpensive tests will be available at nearby drug stores.
Obviously, if you have any signs of illness that may be associated with Covid-19 within the last 14 days prior to attendance, please do not attend. Additionally, if you have had recent close contact with anyone who has had a confirmed case of Covid-19 - we also ask that you do not attend. Please refer to the following CDC guidelines:
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/symptoms-testing/symptoms.html
Finally, we ask that all attendees attest that they have reviewed this plan and in good faith will adhere to it while at the GAM . We ask that you check the box-- ‘acknowledgment of the GAM Covid-19 plan’ during the registration process.
The SSCA GAM planning committee has not taken this matter lightly. Last year we canceled our event in the midst of a full-blown pandemic. In the spirit of our ‘clean wake’ stance, we want to make this event is as safe for you as possible and enjoyable by all. The Annapolis GAM this year had over 80 cruisers attend and was considered very successful. As of today, St Johns county where St Augustine is located is reported to be 63% vaccinated for all ages and 96% vaccinated for individuals over 65 according to the NY Times. We hope to see you this year.
