Dick and Tina Marsh have cruised the east coast for 35+ years,
moving on from Long Island Sound to the Chesapeake and the Massachusetts islands to recent years Maine to Bahamas. Many of these days were with daughters Liz and Casey. He navigated for three Bermuda races and most other northeast ocean races 2008-2018 from Annapolis to Halifax. Over the years he has done some deliveries. With his Catalina 30 of 30 years, he sailed single handed Norfolk to the Azores and Madeira earlier this year. He holds a 100 ton master license and general Ham license. He continues to work in international insurance arranging policies for American interests outside America. This winter he plans to sail Madeira to Martinique where Tina will join to island hop home to North Carolina.
Why serve?
SSCA supports the cruising community with its two gam/safety programs, advocacy, historic support for HF, just fun gams, the work with Black Point, Hope Fleet and port hosts and much else. The membership and community even in faraway places is something special. I would like to help maintain and grow this special thing. For SSCA, I would like to continue to support the combined gam and safety programs in September in Maryland and Florida. Financially, these are our most important programs. And the gams are big recruiting tools. Bringing new members to SSCA is key to the association's future. I am looking for new ways to make our past commitment to HF a draw. I am used to reading financial statements and adhering to financial discipline. I have experience in cleaning up databases; that seems to be an issue with our membership records, and thus revenue.
