Sales of 802 SSB to Resume?

Sales of 802 SSB to Resume?

by aa1gj » Wed May 24, 2017 1:37 pm

Since the discontinuation of M802 SSB sales a year ago this past June, the sailing community has been without a SSB radio that's legal to use on the Marine Bands. That's about to change if you respond to the FCC's Public Notice 17-122. Public Notice 17-122 asks your opinion to the question "... should Icom be granted a waiver permitting the manufacture, importation, sale, and installation of the M802 until 2020...", at which time a replacement model is expected to be available. Offshore cruisers need your help getting this waiver approved. Here's how:

Enter 17-122 in the "Proceeding(s)" box, fill in the rest of the empty boxes as applicable, and enter your comments in the Brief Comments box. All comments must be submitted by June 8th, 2017.

Done. I wish Kenwood would get back into the game. Their last effort was the TKM-707 which was a nice radio. Very simple to use.

Thanks for bringing this up.
