Sailing with a dog on a barefoot route

by dieterotto » Wed Mar 21, 2018 5:53 pm

Hi sailors,

We will start our worldaround sailing trip this year and we like to take our dog with us. Our dog has experience on board.

Our question is about immigration and customs when we will arrive in the country list below.
What will happen? Is there anybody who will take care about our dog?

Who made his own experience sailing with dog along the barefoot route? Or who knows how it is travelling with a dog on a boat?

Our questions aim at the following countries:

- Kuba

- Panama

- South Pacific

- Australia (we read a lot but experience would be very helpful)

About personal experience, contact we would be very happy!

Thanks in advance from Hamburg

Check out they should have the rules for each country listed. Sometimes the rules are vigorously enforced, sometimes not. Sometimes a dog will be allowed only if it remains on the boat. If you run into 90-day quarantines and certification requirements, it can be prohibitive to take a dog cruising.

But noonsite is generally the go-to source for that. (Thank you, Jimmy Cornell.)
