Downeast Drogue

Downeast Drogue

by Kamaloha » Mon Oct 05, 2009 6:23 am

The new ultra-low-cost alternative to the Gale Rider:

I discovered that attaching a pair of lobster traps to your prop makes a very effective drogue. Even under full sail they bring the boat to a virtual standstill. As any one who has sailed up here knows, lobster traps are readily available here in Maine.

Since they are typically tied in pairs, I guess this is really a Series Drogue.

Do they come with the lobsters too? If so they're a significant improvement - keep you safe and feed you too!!!
