Baltimore area boatyard

by j-mkiel » Sun May 27, 2018 10:16 am

I am shipping a sailboat from Southampton to Baltimore in July. I need to arrange for a truck to accept the boat from the port and then a boatyard to unload, step the mast, and launch. Any recommendations?

I don't have an answer for you, but would most strongly suggest that you want to be there, if at all possible, or else have a very trustworthy person who can inspect the boat upon delivery, sign off on any transit damages, and similarly, make sure there are no problems with the setup and launch. A yard may be reluctant to "sign off" on the transit for you, or they may simply miss things, not knowing what the boat was when it was loaded.

I can recommend Tidewater Yacht Service across the river from the terminals. They have stepped our mast, hauled our deep draft boat and are readily accessible by truck off the freeway. You can see them from 95.
